The engine is a bullet proof ‘79 GS550, which was completely rebuilt less than 1500 miles ago. (The speedometer already had 1600 miles on it). These engines are reliable and fairly easy to look after. It has not been modified, but has Shark air filters. The block is painted black, with a few parts polished. I don’t know how many miles the engine had prior to this.

The exhaust downpipes are stainless steel and these collect in a single Buell style silencer box which has 2 exits, 1 either side. It sits neatly under the bike and is quiet, but has a nice sports bike rasp at higher revs.

Gearbox is the original 6 speed. The bike also features a clever answer to the chain offset problem, with a dual chain system. Primary chain has a tensioner, main chain is adjusted by fitting spacers at the swing arm mount – ideally need a jack or stand to support the front end when doing this.

Forks were completely rebuilt at the same time as the rest of the bike and are Kawasaki items. The front wheel is also Kawasaki, powder coated matt black and laced with a Pirelli tyre with plenty of tread. There are twin discs up front for plenty of stopping power. Bars are gloss black drag bars and controls are also Kawasaki. Foam grips. There is just a Speedo up front but I have a new rev counter in a box of spares if you wanted to fit one.

The bike's built to a high standard with professional R6 subframe/single seat conversion (inc stainless undertray), beautifully engineered extended braced swingarm housing the nitrous bottle, polished upside down forks, billet slab yokes, Harris clipon bars, Harris rearset footpegs etc and finished off with polished engine cases, Goodridge brake lines & Goodridge breather.
