BMW Road Skills courses
Motorcyclists can learn to improve their road riding technique by riding their own motorcycle on a BMW Road Skills course. The BMW Roads Skills programme has two levels for motorcyclists with differing riding experience.
The first level is held on country roads and caters for new motorcyclists and born-again bikers who want to gain more confidence when riding on the road. The more advanced course is held on a race circuit where experienced riders can focus on improving road riding techniques in the comparative safety of a controlled environment. This course covers a wide range of techniques including cornering and grip, throttle control, braking and gear changing, as well as slow riding.
Dates and locations for 2004 BMW Road Skills courses will be available early in the new year. Contact World of BMW on 08000 131 282 and register an interest.
BMW Off-Road Skills courses
Riding a motorcycle off-road for the first time can be quite intimidating but when Britain’s best instructors teach every manoeuvre, it’s a lot easier than you might imagine.
Level one of the BMW Off-Road Skills course is for first time riders as well as those with previous off-road experience. It takes place at the magnificent 4,000-acre Seven Sisters Enduro Park in South Wales where participants can ride and learn in a safe and spectacular environment.
Students can choose either a F650 GS or F650 GS Dakar – in fact, there is a bike available for everyone, no matter how tall or small, as long as the rider is reasonably fit. During the two-day course students learn the fundamental techniques of off-road riding and progress to a level they never imagined possible. Those that do progress will be given an opportunity to ride the impressive R1150 GS Adventure.
The BMW Off-Road Skills team also runs an advanced two-day, level two course. Experienced off-road riders can take part on the special one-day off-road adventure in the Brecon Beacons.
Here is a list of dates for BMW Off-Road Skills courses. Level one will be run on all of the dates listed. Level two will also be run on three of the dates below (denoted by *);
