Wayne Gardner

Date of Birth - October 11th 1959

Introduction

The immensely talented Wayne Gardner left a deep imprint to the World Championship, partly due to his immense hunger for victory. His wins and some amazing crashes on the Honds NSR500 earned him the respect and admiration of a generation of motorbike fans and competitors

At the age of 18, in 1977, he began his first season on a second hand Yamaha TZ-250, secured a sponsorship with local motorbike dealer, Karl Praml and made an impression at virtually every event, he either won or crashed.

Gardner had a glittering career racing motorcycles, with significant victories on two and four stroke bikes. When he retired from bike racing in 1992, it was no surprise when he started racing on four wheels, winning some significant victories. He now lives in Monaco with his wife and children.
