The Virgin Mobile Samsung Yamaha British Superbike team are today (12 October) delighted to confirm Seam Emmett, Tommy Hill and Richard Wren as their 2005 British Superbike riders.
Emmett, who scored nine podium finishes this year joins from Monster Mob Ducati, while Hill moves up to the second Superbike berth after an impressive rookie year with the team. The pair are joined by the 2004 Virgin Mobile R6 Cup Champion Richard Wren.
Virgin Mobile Samsung team boss Rob McElnea, said: "We are really pleased to have signed Sean. He is a race winner who works hard to get the best out of a bike. I'm confident that with Sean we will be able to take the Yamaha R1 to the next level in terms of development and results.
"Likewise, we are delighted to have Tom stay with the team. He really did prove himself beyond everyone's expectations this year and, the hard work; commitment and strong results are the reasons why I signed him for another season. I also think Sean will be good for Tom in terms of experience and race knowledge; as will Tom for Richard."
Emmett said: "It's excellent to be back racing with Virgin Mobile and working with Rob and the team again. We tested last week at Croft where I clocked up about sixty laps and I was really encouraged by the initial results. I definitely feel that it is a race-winning bike. The team is very upbeat and positive and I'm really looking forward to the winter test programme, getting out there next season, and winning some races."
Hill said: "It is great to be with the Virgin Mobile team for another season, it's what I've wanted all along. I can now really look forward to building on all I have learnt with Rob and the team and getting some top results for them next season."
Wren joined Emmett at the recent test day and said: "Last week I had my first taste of the Yamaha R1 and it was fantastic. Obviously, it is a massive change coming from a stock R6 but it was really great to get a feel of the bike. It was a brilliant day and I can't wait to get back out there again."
Virgin Mobile's Brand Director, James Kydd, said: "We are delighted with the 2005 Virgin Mobile rider line-up. Sean is a great character and a good strong racer, always an excellent choice for us at Virgin Mobile. It is great to have him as part of the team and we wish him well for the coming season. We are also thrilled to have Tommy Hill and Richard Wren in the team who both came through the Virgin Mobile R6 Cup. We are committed to supporting young up-and-coming riders through the Virgin Mobile R6 Cup and it is fantastic to see the likes of Tommy, the 2003 R6 Champion, doing so well and now Richard coming through as the 2004 Champion."
