Yamaha scoops prestigious MCN award - December 20th 2004

Yamaha scooped two of the most important awards at the annual prize ceremony held by influential British motorcycle newspaper Motorcycle News (MCN).

The YZF-R1 took the honours in the hotly contested and arguably most prestigious category, the top sportsbike above 601cc, while the FZ6 Fazer was voted as the best all-rounder for the second successive year. The Fazer's award ensured that this was the seventh year in a row that Yamaha has won this category with one of its Fazer range of machines.

Miles Taylor, Press and PR Manager at Yamaha Motor UK, commented: "While the FZ6 Fazer continued the unbeaten run of success for the Fazer family by winning the all-rounder of the year for the second year running. The YZF-R1 confirmed its rightful place as the large capacity supersports bike to own by reclaiming the crown that previous generations of the R1 have won in the past."
