Airwaves Ducati riders Leon
Haslam and Gregorio Lavilla finished 1st and 3rd quickest in the official
BSB test at Silverstone today. The pairing were consistently quick at the
2.213 mile Northamptonshire circuit across all three sessions during the day
and finished with quickest lap times of 1:26.684s and 1:27.895s
respectively. The team were pleased to build on the progress made last week
at Cadwell Park and tested more settings on the Airwaves Ducati 999F04s
along with further Dunlop tyres and new Q8Oils lubricants. With many of the
main BSB contenders attending the test, the Airwaves Ducati squad will be in
confident mood when the season resumes on 19th August at Silverstone.
Airwaves Ducati Team Manager, Colin Wright, was pleased with the progress
the team have made: "We worked particularly on gearing and achieved a lot in
the three sessions, building on what we completed at Cadwell last week. The
guys are very comfortable on the bikes and familiarised themselves with the
two tracks that we are visiting later this month. In Gregorio's case this is
good news and means we can arrive at the circuits looking to win the races.
Leon's performance at both tests has been excellent and will boost his
confidence for the remainder of the season. The whole team can't wait for
the racing to resume and we'll be raring to challenge for victories in the
remaining five rounds".
Leon was delighted with his performance: "I'm really happy to be quick all
day and consistently fastest on race tyres in the three sessions, the same
as last week at Cadwell Park. I've been looking forward to the last few
rounds of the season and this will give me a lot of confidence for the
races. I lapped just under the lap record and completed 84 laps on various
tyres so I will be completely ready when the season resumes".
Gregorio was pleased to set such a quick time: "I've always thought I would
be quicker at this style of circuit and I'm pleased with the time. The bike
feels good and we've worked hard on various settings so that we're ready for
the races coming up. I'll have a bit of time off now and arrive at
Silverstone ready to challenge for victories".
The BSB season resumes on the 19th August at Silverstone with the ninth
round in the Championship.
