Airwaves Ducati riders Leon Haslam and Gregorio Lavilla
will be aiming for more race victories as the eighth round of the Bennetts
British Superbike Championship takes place at Snetterton this weekend. With
the series taking a six week break following this weekend, the 25-lap double
header at the Norfolk track will represent a great opportunity to close the
gap in preparation for the remaining rounds.
Both riders are feeling extremely comfortable on the Airwaves Ducati 999F04s
and are hopeful that they can rise to the challenge provided by their
rivals. The super quick 1.95 mile circuit should suit the Ducati machinery
and the team are hopeful that they can return to winning ways following a
hard fought set of results at Knockhill two weeks ago.
Airwaves Ducati Team Manager, Colin Wright, was looking forward to the
challenge of the weekend: "Everyone is aware that this is Honda's nominated
track so they will know the circuit and should be quick. This presents us
with a challenge that I know the whole team will relish. With each round
that goes by, we can try new ideas and new settings to try and get the bikes
running quicker and we'll be aiming for victories this weekend".
Gregorio, who will be experiencing the circuit for the first time, said:
"I'm looking forward to getting to Snetterton on Friday and working hard in
preparation for the weekend. I will need to put a lot of work in as always
to learn the track and then hopefully progress from there. I've been told
it's quite a straightforward track and very quick so hopefully we can get as
much as possible from the bike to challenge for victories".
Leon was upbeat about his chances at the track: "I've got good memories of
Snetterton as a track having raced here on a 600cc so I will be aiming for a
good result. In wet or dry conditions, I know we have a good package for
this type of circuit and the Ducati should go well around here. It's
important we have a good session on Friday and then we will be prepared for
the weekend. I've been training really hard since the last round at
Knockhill and I can't wait to get racing again".
The eighth round of the BSB Championship at Snetterton, near Norwich, starts
with two free practice sessions on Friday 8th July, followed by two
qualifying sessions on Saturday 9th July and two 25-lap races on Sunday 10th
July.
