Airwaves Ducati riders Leon Haslam and Gregorio
Lavilla finished in 3rd and 10th places respectively following two free
practice sessions at Snetterton today. With the eighth round of the Bennetts
British Superbike Championship taking place on Sunday, the duo were pleased
with their initial efforts at the Norfolk circuit. They remain undeterred
following a crash each in session two, both uninjured and raring to set
quick qualifying times tomorrow.
Airwaves Ducati Team Manager, Colin Wright, said: "We've made a steady start
to the weekend. I'm obviously pleased both Gregorio and Leon are unhurt
following their crashes and they are both ok for tomorrow. Gregorio has got
a good feel for the track and ran consistently in the top 10, Leon's effort
was excellent and he's looking very good on race tyres".
Gregorio was happy with his first taste of the circuit: "I'm not sure what
happened when I came off this afternoon but until then I was pretty relaxed
with things. The circuit is fairly straightforward so I'll be ready for
qualifying tomorrow".
Leon was delighted with his efforts: "I've always had good memories of
Snetterton and the two sessions today have set me up perfectly for the
weekend. I think I was actually trying a bit too hard towards the end, in an
effort to beat my best lap from the morning session. I was quick throughout
so I'll be hoping for a front row start position tomorrow".
The eighth round of the Championship continues with two 50-minute qualifying
sessions tomorrow followed by two 25-lappers on Sunday.
