The organisers of the British Masters Motocross Series have been forced to
call off the third round of the 2005 championships because of a waterlogged
paddock area at Abram Moto Park.
The Wigan venue has been deluged during recent heavy rain and the organises
have taken the decision to call off the event - due to be held on May 21-22 - to give competitors plenty of notice.
A spokesman for the series issued the following statement: "We did not wish
to inconvenience our loyal competitors in this way but felt we had no
alternative other than to postpone the event.
"Heavy rain has turned the paddock area into a quagmire and although the
track is rideable at this stage further bad weather is forecast.
"We did not wish to let the high standard of the series to be compromised by having an event where the conditions in the paddock are below what we consider acceptable.
"We are looking at replacing this event with another later in the year so we
ensure the championship remains a six-event series.
"We hope our competitors understand why we have been forced to take this
difficult decision and look forward to seeing them at the next round which is at the Foxhill Moto Park on June 25-26."
