Motorcyclists currently have the opportunity to spend a day with the award winning 2005 Motor Cycle News Tourer of the Year courtesy of a unique consumer promotion by the BMW Motorrad UK dealership network. The promotion, which allows riders to spend a prolonged period or just a 'day' in the saddle of the BMW R1200 RT to really experience the benefits of BMW motorcycle ownership, also comes with the added value incentive of a chance to win a biking holiday worth nearly £1,000.
BMW Motorrad, in conjunction with the World of BMW, is offering all participants who test ride the R1200 RT before the end of the year, automatic entry into a special prize draw which could see them win a BMW touring holiday, for up to two people, in south-west Ireland.
With winter just around the corner, riding in adverse weather conditions and low temperatures will not be a problem for would be BMW R1200 RT owners. There are a variety of practical riding options available including heated grips and heated seat, but for comfort and handling Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) is unique to BMW owners. The ESA system enables the rider to adjust spring base and damper rate - the latter even when riding - by pressing a button located on the handlebar.
A replacement for the best-selling R1150 RT, the lighter and more powerful R1200 RT was launched in February of this year to universal acclaim from press and public alike. Since then, the last nine months has seen BMW's 110 hp definitive tourer create new benchmarks in the touring segment. For example, an expansive new body design provides vastly improved wind and weather protection and superior riding comfort. This has also enabled an extensive range of rider and passenger ergonomics to be incorporated.
Sporting a 16 per cent power increase and 20kg weight reduction, BMW's R1200 RT has already received a succession of accolades, emphasised by a meteoric rise to the top of the UK sales charts. In addition to scooping the prestigious MCN award for Best Tourer, the RT is the top-selling bike in the touring segment and the third best-selling motorcycle over 100ccc.
To test ride the R1200 RT for a day and qualify for an opportunity to win a BMW touring holiday in Ireland, enthusiasts can visit any BMW Motorrad dealership.
To locate the nearest BMW dealership, customers should phone 0800 777 155, or visit www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk.
Note: The promotion ends 22 December 2005. The winner of the holiday prize draw, worth £945, has to take the prize from 8-13 May 2006.
