Juniors are set to make a welcome return to the Vivaldi British Supermoto
Championship from round two of the series which will be held at the Warden
Law Motorsport Centre in Sunderland on the 30th May.
Due to a lack of entries the SM4 class did not make an appearance at Lydd
International but championship organisers have been working with a number of
interested parties to secure the long-term future of the class.
The 2005 Junior Challenge is open to anyone under the age of 15 as at the
1st March of this year. The format for the SM4 class includes a 10 minute
practice and qualifier with two 10 minute (plus one lap) races. There will
be a podium presentation at the end of each round and points will be awarded as per SM1 and SM2.
Eddie Nelson from the ACU said that encouraging the next generation of
Supermoto stars is a top priority for the championship and title sponsor
Vivaldi.
"Due to a lack of entries we couldn't get the SM4 class for Junior's off the
ground for the first round. We have since been working away behind the
scenes to get the kids involved in the British Championship and we are
expecting a healthy number of entrants for the second round at Sunderland."
