Airwaves Ducati return to racing action this weekend
as the Bennetts British Superbike season resumes at Silverstone. Following a
six week break and with five rounds in the series remaining, the team are
raring to go and will be aiming for victory at the 2.213-mile
Northamptonshire circuit. Buoyed by recent progress in testing, the team are
approaching back to back races with confidence and will be aiming to
challenge for the Championship for the rest of the season.
Airwaves Ducati Team Manager, Colin Wright, is looking forward to the
weekend: "We are raring to get back to racing following the six week break.
We've made some excellent progress in the two tests and Gregorio and Leon
are hopeful for the weekend. The next two races are crucial to our chances
of challenging for the title so we will be aiming for victories. The racing
at Silverstone is sure to be close and we will be doing everything we can to
ensure that we have a successful weekend".
Gregorio, who gained valuable experience of the circuit in the recent test,
said: "I've had some rest over the last few weeks and I'm fully ready to
race again. I know that the Championship is still a possibility but I am
taking each race as it comes and will then see what the position is. We
tried a few different things in testing and it will be good to see whether
they work at a race weekend. I like Silverstone as a track and I'm hopeful
of doing well there".
Leon was eager to get back racing: "Testing was really successful and has
given me plenty of confidence for the remaining rounds. It's been a long
period between the races and I can't wait to get back on the bike. We've
been battling for results at all the circuits this year and have suffered a
few niggly problems. I'm hopeful that they won't reoccur in the remaining
races and we can challenge for race victories. I like Silverstone and am
pretty confident following my performance in the recent test. I've been
training hard and I am ready for the racing to resume".
The ninth round of the BSB Championship at Silverstone in Northamptonshire
starts with two free practice sessions on Friday 19th August, followed by
two qualifying sessions on Saturday 20th August and two 22-lap races on
Sunday 21st August.
