Matt Llewellyn returns to the British Superbike paddock aboard the AIM
Racing Yamaha. The Leicester based rider who currently rides in the Metabo
British Supersport championship has been drafted into the team to replace
the injured AIM regular Chris Burns.
Llewellyn commented "I spoke to Alistair at Oulton about his plans for next
year and how Chris was doing. As the conversation went along, we discussed
the development of the bike. Alistair asked would I be interested in riding
the bike at Donington and Brands if Chris was not fit enough. I agreed and
then later in the week I received the call; it's a shame to have to take
Chris's ride, but I hope he recovers soon. I spoke to the team manager of
Buildbase/Knotts Magnum and he confirmed I could ride for AIM, therefore I
gladly accepted the opportunity to be back on a Superbike. I will also still
ride in the 600 championship so I will be very busy over the weekend.
We are going testing before Donington, so I hope I will have time to get
some mileage under my belt."
Alistair Flanagan added "Chris had an operation at the end of last week to
repair the break in his hand. The damage was quite extensive and the doctor
had to put two plates and 10 screws to strengthen it. I have spoken to him
several times and we at AIM wish him a fast recovery.
With regards to Matt he is a first class rider, I have watched him for some
time and as Chris has been ruled unfit for the rest of the season, we needed
a rider of Matt's calibre. We are looking forward to having Matt onboard for
the remaining two rounds of this year's championship."
