After a twenty minute delay the Thursday afternoon practice got underway in near perfect conditions. Unlike previous sessions Lougher had decided not to get away first, but to wait and go away further down the field. Out for two laps onboard the Stobart Motorsport superbike, Lougher appeared happy with set-up combination as he blasted past the paddock on the start of the second lap without stopping to make any adjustment.
Buckley was circulating well on the Team Black Horse Superstock Fireblade and by the close of the session the Glaswegian had racked up his fastest lap of the TT so far.
With two superbike laps in the bag, Lougher returned to the paddock to change from the Stobart Honda Superbike to the Team Black Horse Honda CBR600RR Supersport machine for one lap. Meanwhile, Buckley also swapped his 1000cc Superstock machine for the Team Black Horse 600 Supersport bike.
Ian Lougher: "Conditions were much better today as the wind had dropped over the mountain section. I got a good standing lap on the Superbike and I was on a quick flying lap but an incident at Greba Castle slowed us all up considerably. The Stobart Superbike is shaping up to be a fabulous TT machine and certainly coming through the field this afternoon gave me a better gauge of just how powerful the bike is. We still have another practice session before the first Superbike race on Saturday and things are looking good. I also managed to get another lap on the Team Black Horse 600 Supersport, essentially it was just a ride round to run some parts in before the race, but the bike is good and I'm looking forward to the Supersport 600 race on Wednesday which will no doubt be very close at the front."
Mark Buckley: " I am absolutely delighted to have taken thirty seconds off my best time today. I now know which corners come next and I'm able to race round the circuit and not just ride the circuit for the first time since I arrived on the Island. My confidence is growing all the time and I'm really looking forward to my first TT race on Saturday, which I hope should give me a chance to improve my lap times further as I hope not to have to battle through the same amount of traffic as I have been encountering during practice."
