The Airwaves Ducati team today completed a two day test at Croft in North Yorkshire with both riders vastly improving on the lap times they set at the circuit last year. Leon Haslam completed 753km over the two days, while reigning champion Gregorio Lavilla completed 630km. Between them they tested 12 Dunlop tyres.
With air temperatures of 28 degrees and a track temperature of 41 degrees, Lavilla consistently improved his lap times, posting a fastest time of 1:20.62 on race tyres, beating his fastest time from last year of 1:21.1
Following on from his two second place finishes at Snetterton at the last round, Leon Haslam topped each of the five testing sessions producing a lap time of 1:20.34 on race tyres. Leon ended the test on a qualifying tyre and went even quicker with a lap time of 1:19.9, beating the lap record set last year by almost a second.
On the two day test Lavilla commented, "Testing has gone very well. We've had the opportunity to try a number of different tyres and race settings and it's been good to get back on the bike after a two week break."
Haslam added, "I'm over the moon with how things have gone at Croft. I've been quickest in every session and on both race and qualifying tyres I've been nearly two seconds quicker than I was when we came here last year. It's looking very good for Knockhill and for the rest of the season."
The Airwaves Ducati team will return to racing at Knockhill on July 16th for Round 8 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
