Following recent news about the escalating illegal use of mini-moto bikes on public land in the UK and the Government's nationwide crackdown, the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show has announced that it will showcase the positive and safe practice of the sport of racing the machines once again at this year's show at the NEC in Birmingham.

The Mini-Moto feature has proved to be one of the most popular areas of the show in recent years, giving bikers, young and old the chance to try their hand at racing the bikes in a controlled, safe and supervised environment. Last year approximately 3,000 visitors to the show tried out the Mini-Moto feature on the specially constructed indoor race track.

Craig Carey-Clinch, MCI's Director of Public Affairs is keen to point out the importance that the show puts on safety and proper use of the mini-moto bikes:

Craig said, "The Mini-Moto feature is an extremely important and hugely popular part of the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show and demonstrates the responsible and proper use of mini-motos. They are a part of our industry and it naturally makes sense to promote them in a safe way at the show. All of us in the industry object to the dangerous misuse of any kind of two-wheeled machine."

Julian Hayward from Mini Moto Racing, which runs the Mini-Moto area at the NEC show, explained how the feature showcases the correct use of the bikes:

"Mini-motos are extremely enjoyable but also very safe when ridden in a controlled environment. They are not designed for the public highways but for mini-moto race tracks such as the one that we build at the NEC, and they have helped to turn many promising young riders into future racing stars. I am looking forward to continuing to demonstrate our fantastic sport at the NEC in October."

The International Motorcycle and Scooter Show will take place at the Birmingham NEC from 27th October - 5th November.
