The first day of tests at Malaysian track of Sepang ended today and most of the Teams
were focused on the new 800cc bikes development. The intense humidity and high
temperature were broken today by a storm at lunchtime. Carlos Checa and the LCR Team
joined the first day of practices together with Rizla Suzuki, Kawasaki Racing, Fortuna
Honda, Repsol Honda, Yamaha Tech 3 and Camel Yamaha.
Checa tested, for the first time today, the new RC212V that HRC staff gave to the Spanish
rider on the occasion of this test session as the new motorbikes of LCR Team will be
assembled next December in Japan by the technical staff managed by Ramon Forcada.
Checa did only ten laps in total because of the rain but is looking forward to getting on the
bike again tomorrow.
Checa: "When I got on the bike I only managed five full laps before the rain started and
was in and out of the pits setting the machine to suit my riding style. Nothing is really
clear, we didn't get any useful information because we did so few laps. We decided to start
with a base set up to develop during the whole day but the rain interrupted our job. We
lost track time today and hope in better conditions for tomorrow".
