Dougie Lampkin is delighted to announce an important addition to his 2006 team, as the multi World champion goes in search of a record breaking eighth outdoor trials World title. Having been absent during last year, to establish his own property maintenance business back in the UK, James Lampkin has agreed terms to re-join Dougie for an full out assault on the 2006 World outdoor championship.

  1. The World championship winning duo have collected X titles during their previous X year working relationship, so Dougie was obviously disappointed to have lost James' services as his main minder during the initial season on the new Montesa four stroke. Cousin James will re-join Dougie's famous father Martin as the main two minders, with additional support coming from Amos Bilbao who will continue in his role as Repsol Montesa's development rider.

Commenting on the recruitment of his cousin, Dougie is understandably excited at the opportunity of working with James once again. " This is a massive boost for me, as the relationship I have had with James over the years is second to none. I have gone on the record before saying that I believe that he is one of the best minders in the World and I can honestly say that I stick by that. Having James as part of the team again is a big bonus for me and one that just could give me the all important advantage come the end of the season."

Dougie continued. " Whilst James has not worked with the four stroke before I am sure that it will not take long for him to get back in the swing of things. It is not like training someone new, as James knows exactly what he needs to do and exactly when to do it, so I don't think it will be long before we have re-established the special understanding that has produced the right results in the past."

Showing equal enthusiasm about his re-appointment, James explained. " It wasn't an easy decision to step out of the picture last year, but I knew it was the only way I could put something in place for the future, when my minding days are finally over. When Dougie asked me to consider his offer for 2006, I was over the moon at having the opportunity to do something I love and something that has proved to be very successful before."

James expanded. "Dougie has made it clear from the start that there is only one objective this year and that is to win the outdoor title. For my part all I can do is guarantee that he has my support 110% to help him achieve this. I will be doing everything in my power to make sure that we can add another title to the tally we have already achieved together. I am aware that it isn't going to be an easy task, but winning World championships never has been. I am desperate to experience that winning feeling again and I know that Dougie is too."
