Reigning Irish Champion Martin Finnegan in once again back with Klaffi Honda
aboard their CBR 1000 RR. He will contest the Irish Road Race Championship
as well as the Superbike and Supersport classes at the TT and the Southern
100.
The Klaffi Honda team have a wealth of experience in pure road racing and
they will be using that to help prepare their bikes for the extreme
conditions produced during the races.
The bikes have to deal with jumps, sudden shocks, and vibrations, not to
mention stone chips as well as brutal gear changes and hard braking.
Klaffi are running a titanium Akrapovic exhaust system which has been
specially modified for the TT adding 15PS on overall performance.
They also have opted to run an STM slipper clutch which will give a more
predictable ride and minimises the risk of over-revving the engine during
downshifts. The other added benefit is it prevents rear wheel lockups which
is an added safety benefit.
Good brakes are essential and will be supplied by TRW Lucas along with the
foot rests. Last season the team ran CRQ pads also from Lucas, and they were
happy with their performance.
To help prevent damage from stones the team are using a Becker carbon
fairing which will help minimum weight and a maximise rigidity and strength.
With all their pre season preparations in place the Klaffi Honda team are
eagerly awaiting the start of this season which is shaping up to be as
competitive as ever.
