V-Rod Features Fresh New Colours and Custom Components from Harley-Davidson CVO;

The 2006 VRSCSE2 Screamin' Eagle V-Rod rolls out of the Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) shop on a new 240mm rear tyre; the widest ever mounted on a production Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The new rear tyre is just one of many new components found on this second edition of the ultimate custom power-cruiser from Harley-Davidson.

The Harley-Davidson CVO program creates low-volume, performance custom motorcycles produced by skilled technicians in special assembly areas at the Harley- Davidson plants in York, Pennsylvania, and Kansas City, Missouri. Approximately 2,600 examples of the 2006 Screamin' Eagle V-Rod will be assembled at the Kansas City Vehicle and Powertrain Operations facility.

The new 240mm rear tyre and a new 8-inch by 18-inch forged aluminium Reactor fivespoke rear wheel replace the 180mm tyre and 5.5-inch-wide Reactor combination used on the 2005 Screamin' Eagle V-Rod. In order to accommodate the wide rear wheel and tyre, the Screamin' Eagle V-Rod also has new fender supports, new inner and outer fender custom shocks, and narrow drive components.

Spinning that big back wheel is a 1250cc "big-bore" version of the liquid-cooled, fuelinjected 60-degree Revolution V-Twin engine with high flow cylinder heads for better intake and exhaust flow and optimised cam timing. This Screamin' Eagle version of the Revolution V-Twin makes 86 ft. lbs. of torque and 10 percent more power than the standard Revolution engine. For 2006, the engine is finished in black and chrome.

Other key features of the 2006 Screamin' Eagle V-Rod include an improved hydraulic clutch with anodised Alumite coated hubs to reduce internal friction and a 10 percent stiffer spring. A new rear turn signal module and custom licence plate bracket smooth out the profile of the rear fender area. The key has been relocated to the right side of the frame below the front side cover. A new push-button latch for the seat is located in the right-rear side cover.

New knurled grips and pegs lead a long list of custom components on the Screamin' Eagle V-Rod, including a forged, chrome plated handlebar riser, clamp and instrument bracket which support a traditional speedometer and tachometer with spun-aluminium faces. Handlebars are 31.75 mm diameter and feature internal wiring. The airbox cover features an inset chrome console holding an LED display for the fuel gauge, indicator lights and a clock.

Components from the Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories Catalogue featured on the Screamin' Eagle V-Rod include: chrome swingarm; chrome upper belt guard and lower debris deflector; chrome hand and foot controls; coated braided stainless steel control cables, clutch and brake lines; and a chrome side stand. Each Screamin' Eagle V-Rod also includes a special key and storage cover from the CVO team.

The 2006 Screamin' Eagle V-Rod will be offered in three new colour combinations:

  • Electric Orange and Black
  • Scarlet Red Pearl and Charcoal Slate, and Chrome Yellow
  • Pearl and Platinum Pearl
  • The hydroformed perimeter frame tubes are colourcoordinated with a powdercoat finish and the new paint design features the Screamin' Eagle head on the sides of the airbox cover. The lower side covers, headlight shroud and new radiator cover (with a chrome-plate insert) are all colour matched.
