Design and Technology;

The Bimota Tesi project evolved from the graduation work of two mechanical enigneering students who, at the beginning of the '80s, designed and developed a bike utilising a front swing arm as the front suspension. Bimota decided to commit major resources to the refinement of this project and teamed up with VDM, a small but innovative motorbike manufacturer based in Rimini and headed up by Rodorigo Ascanio, a former Bimota technician. The Bimota Resi 2D bike is the culmination of this research project offering an amazing combination of attributes; an incredibly light machine built using the best quality, high-tech components, with a revolutionary style that creates an easy but unique riding experience.

The Frame;

The omage frame consists of two machined plates that house a Ducati 1000 DS engine, the suspension and the tail/seat provide support at the back and the steering rods support the front.

The front and rear swing arm is a true masterpiece: it is extremely light thanks to a manufacturing system that utilises a light alloy box section. Its movement is governed by an unusual Double System pneumatic shock that removes the need for a spring, further enhancing overall lightness.

Front Wheel;

The front wheel of the Tesi 2D is uniquely innovative. Instead of employing the classic fork, the Test 2D has a technological advances aluminium swing arm that separates the steering system from the damping system to offer perfect handling in all situations. On the Test 2D the trail and the steering angle remain constant in all conditions creating more neutral front wheel handling when cornering and a more constant braking sensation. The steering concept is possible thanks to the Di Fazio System.
