WGP 50th Anniversary Models
In the enduro world the Yamaha WR450F
has won a reputation among dirt riders for its gutsy
performance across the rev range, combined with precision
handling on the toughest terrain, as well as class-leading
durability and reliability. For the new race season
Yamaha will introduce an all-new WR450F which benefits
from the advanced engine and chassis technology developed
from our racing programmes.
For over a decade the remarkable Yamaha YZF-R1 has
been at the very forefront of high performance motorcycle
technology on the road and track, with a WSB World
Championship title and numerous national and international
race wins to its credit. Since its launch this cutting-edge
machine has constantly pushed the boundaries of engine
and chassis development, and the latest model takes
the R1 experience to a new level. For 2012 this outstanding
998cc supersport motorcycle benefits from a number
of electronic and aerodynamic upgrades and modifications
which are designed to enhance both its overall performance
and controllability.
To celebrate 50 years of Grand Prix racing, Yamaha
are pleased to announce the launch of a range of models
which will feature an evocative race-inspired colour
scheme as used by Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies in the
2011 MotoGP season. Based on the famous red and white
‘speedblock’ colour scheme originally
featured on Yamaha’s pioneering Grand Prix race
bikes in the 1960s and 1970s, this classic yet contemporary
WGP 50th Anniversary colour scheme will be available
on the YZF-R1, FZ8, YZF-R6, YZF-R125 and Aerox.
Aimed at design-conscious riders who are looking
for a clean and minimalist image, there are many new
models available for 2012 in a special matt grey colour
scheme. The Series Grey line adds another dimension
to the extensive Yamaha line-up. First seen in the
high-end supercar market, this neutral colour scheme
highlights lines and curves in a special way to give
the bikes a fresh new look. The new Series Grey finish
will be available on the YZF-R1, YZF-R6, FZ8, Fazer8,
XT1200Z Super Ténéré, and YZF-R125
for the new season.
