Suzuki TS250M

- Price new - £649
- Power – 16bhp
- Top Speed – 88mph
- Weight – 133kg
Although not particularly light at 133kg and
having only 16bhp, the TS250M was very nimble
and as happy pottering along the high street
as taking the short cut home over the rough
stuff.
In truth, the Yamaha DT175 was more than a
match for it and that’s probably why the
TS never set the world alight. Most manufacturers
had a 175 or 250 mud-plugger in the late 70s,
all looking for the dirty money.
Most of these machines have long since been
used as field bikes and are lost forever.
The single-cylinder two-stroke produces great
low-down torque and a lovely tune is played
through the exhaust. The suspension is bouncy,
gearbox is slick.
