In 2004, BMW Motorrad redefined its motorcycling future by producing two significant new models to ensure BMW will have more appeal to more UK riders in the future. This direction will result in future models being lighter, more powerful and with greater agility. Already this strategy has contributed to increased sales for BMW Motorrad UK - from 4,200 units in 2003 to an expected 4,600 in 2004 - despite a significant downturn in overall motorcycle sales for the year.

In just six months, the versatile R1200 GS has rocketed to the top of the sales charts. So far, it is the best selling motorcycle over 1000cc in the UK and easily the best selling machine in the Adventure Sport category.

Also launched this year is BMW's first superbike - K1200 S - showing that it's possible to have abundant horsepower, outstanding high-speed capability, and ergonomic efficiency without compromising legendary BMW features like comfort and safety. BMW has also introduced new technology with Duolever suspension and Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA).

BMW is committed to promoting motorcycling to the public and aiding industry growth. Sponsorship initiatives, like Long Way Round, mean that Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's global adventure has aired on Sky television and can be read in an associated book.

BMW has increased its sports profile for 2004 with the continuation of the BoxerCup running almost exclusively at MotoGP events, establishing its reputation as probably the most successful one-make race series ever.

A customer activities programme - World of BMW - offers off-road courses and worldwide tours, allowing BMW Motorrad to communicate to customers through a dedicated website and quality magazine.

Customer support is the industry's most comprehensive. BMW Motorrad offers an approved used bike scheme; the widest range of (technical and safety) after-market options, unmatched choice of rider equipment (including the world's lightest full-face helmet), accessories, luggage, and leisure products. BMW finance and insurance schemes are also industry leading.

A major upgrade for the entire solus Dealership network has ensured BMW Motorrad's high standards of quality and presentation, and respect for its customers are reflected across all aspects of the brand.

BMW Motorrad has a range of new bikes to be released in 2005, including the new K1200 R roadster, based on BMW's new K1200 S superbike. BMW has also released details of a new international one-make race series for the K1200 R, which will also support the MotoGP World Championship.

BMW Motorrad UK has also implemented a programme to take its customer activity programme - the World of BMW - to the next level. Customers will have access to the successful Off-Road Skills courses and tours, as well as BMW track days and Direct Access training. There will also be a range of activities just for BMW motorcycle owners.
